“Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,” believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations. - VIRGIL ABLOH
Founder of OFF-WHITE and Men's artistic creative director of LV Virgil Abloh went against the odds to break into a strongly bordered fashion industry as an African American and a streetwear designer creating a legacy beyond fashion.
Survived by his wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues, the Icon passed away after batting a rare form of cancer.
Virgil Abloh was born in 1980 in Rockford, Illinois, to Nee and Eunice Abloh, who had emigrated to the United States from Ghana. While studying Civil Engineering at the University of Wisconsin and later the Illinois Institute of Technology he met Kanye West, another unconventional creative thinker, who was so impressed by Abloh and started a working relationship with him.
