Lion King - Beyonce sends a Letter to Africa
There is a new shift in the ground of African pop culture and it's not coming from the continent but rather from the state of AMERICA.
BEYONCE has just announced a new album she curated for the continent of Africa featuring Tekno, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Shatta Wale, and Busiswa,
“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” she says in an interview with ABC TV.
The Lion King soundtrack presents a new opportunity for the afrobeat movement worldwide. With over 28 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Beyonce brings with her a large consumer base of music listeners to hear and feel what African pop sounds like in 2019.
It also reinforces the agenda and calls to action for African youths home and abroad not to relent in their efforts to continuously push and reshape the brand Africa to the global audience.
Our music, food, philosophy, culture, technology, and clothing brands but be embraced and held on the same level as many other products we consume around the world.
The two stands out tracks from the album now added to the CoolAfricanPlaylist are :
Brown Skin Girl ft Wizkid - Track 15
Keys to the Kingdom ft Mr. Eazi & Tiwa Savage - Track 17
The time is now for Africa!
